25 Nov Giving Thanks where Thanks is Due
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1
I think Thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday. Sacred time with family. Laughter and familiarity fill the air. And who cannot be thankful for the sales?
Yes, I’m that girl—at least I became her this year.
You know, the one at the door when Target opens at 6 AM. I used to mosey on out around 11 AM, but I’ve now learned there’s nothing like getting to the stores before sunrise to beat the rush. Call me crazy or smart. But I’ve found a new tradition!
To me, Black Friday is a sport. I love saving money, and there’s no better time of the year to do so than this time.
With a week filled with family, friends, and good ol’ shopping fun, what’s not to like?
But amongst all the festivities, I have to remember to pause. And give thanks where it’s due.
So this week’s post is short and simple. A simple reminder to take a moment and be thankful for the one who created everything, allowing us to enjoy things like turkey and pies and sales.
While all the peripherals are wonderful during the Thanksgiving season, let’s remember to give thanks to the one who is Good.
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Rejoice in the one who made you. Revel in his love which endures forever. He is faithful to you. And will be faithful for all eternity. Praise Him, worship Him, all while knowing the Lord is God.
May you be filled with joy and thankfulness this Holiday season.
